PJI staff continuously think about ways to improve their work with system stakeholders across the United States. Pretrial Innovation (PI) events are a product of this ongoing effort to share and disseminate the latest pretrial justice knowledge, ideas, and expertise.
The Pretrial Innovators Convention
Every two years PJI hosts a convention—not a conference!—focused on cutting-edge pretrial knowledge and practice. PI-Con deploys modern technology and expertise in adult learning to spur participants to explore the field’s latest innovation opportunities.

The Pretrial Innovators Leadership Course
PI-Lead is a six-month blended learning experience for individuals seeking to join the next generation of pretrial leaders. PI-Lead’s in-person and remote learning and coaching help participants develop the leadership, communication, and political skills they need to spearhead major pretrial change.

The Pretrial Innovation Network
PI-Net’s mission is to improve pretrial practices and policies through a network of technical experts, system stakeholders, and advocacy groups. PJI—is in a unique position to further the PI-Net community’s strategic pretrial activities, having previously convened the Pretrial Justice Working Group—hosts PI-Net with monthly dial-ins and ongoing communication in a private community within the University of Pretrial (UP).
