Pretrial justice – as a movement, a discipline, and a profession – is regaining the public’s attention.  Jail crowding, commercial bail, and other public safety issues are driving issues of pretrial release to the forefront of the news.  Our pro bono advocacy and outreach activities are essential – pivotal – to our mission.  Typically, for no fee, PJI staff are invited to speak at state and local meetings, and visit communities in need of assistance.  Recently, we have been asked to provide “after-action” support to several communities which implemented our recommendations (validated risk assessment instruments and pretrial supervision strategies) only to find themselves attacked on numerous fronts by the bonding-for-profit industry.  Your donations support that work.
