Prosecution

One job of a prosecutor is to work with the police to determine the facts of a crime and recommend appropriate bail. A thorough pretrial investigation report can help prosecutors develop appropriate bail recommendations.
Diversion in lieu of prosecution is traditionally a function of a prosecutor.  Working with a pretrial service agency, prosecutors can identify appropriate alternatives to traditional prosecution for select offenses and offenders.
Often, how someone performs on pretrial release can affect the sentence imposed by the court at adjudication. Strong, appropriate pretrial release programs with adequate monitoring can help prosecutors recommend appropriate sentences.
