PJI Reports

The Pretrial Justice Institute works to improve the research available on pretrial processes and services. Our efforts encompass working with pretrial programs on data collection, analyzing jail populations, facilitating forums to identify needed research, and serving as a clearinghouse for research reports. We also publish the Pretrial Reporter which covers judicial decisions affecting the pretrial process.

The Pretrial Justice Institute is the nation’s only nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring informed pretrial decision-making for safe communities. When people are arrested, their release or detention pending trial should be based on a thoughtful, informed assessment of whether they will stay crime-free while on release and return to court for trial.
